Trash Talkin' with God - TTWG a unique community initiative that combines practical environmental cleanup with spiritual act and prayer versus just a simple "thought and prayer" . If you are on board, before you go on a walk, jog, bike ride, or a quick run in your car, grab a bag before you go. With each trash item picked up and bagged, stop and reflect to God and in your faith, a prayer of one of three reasons: gratitude for blessings, for someone in need of your prayers that you are lifting up, or for strength or forgiveness for a sin you are working on. This is an ongoing path for you as individual , but we will also gather at varying locations where anyone sees litter collected and needing a #trashtalkinwithGod session to give back to the "creator of earth and heaven". If trash is on the ground before the next rain, from Dallas, it's on a 1,000 mile journey down the storm sewer, to the creeks, to the Trinity River, to Trinity Bay, Galveston Bay, and the Gulf of America/Mexico. We offer the homeless on street corners the opportunity to earn money or gift cards if they are willing to work for funds by picking up these area of trash. Each piece bagged is to reflect on a small step back to someone that lays heavy on their heart, and for others back home who they themselves are weighing on their heart. The connection can be powerful and a first step in a trust based relationship to connect the dots to agencies and services that can help them transition to recovery and housing. The project blends hands-on stewardship of the earth with personal moments of prayer, creating a space where people can serve their community, care for creation, and connect with God, regardless of one's faith, religion or lack their of, race, demographic or income. Trash is a universal truth and common denominator across the spectrum. . It’s a simple yet meaningful way to turn ordinary cleanup work into an act of praise and quiet conversation with the Divine.
